Sourced entirely from the south facing Dobbin Estate “Faye Vineyard”, over twenty individual manual operations were performed on each vine by our experienced vineyard team. 2022 was a spectacular fall with dry conditions and the trees surrounding the vineyard on the Twenty Mile Bench turned ever-so-slowly redder. Certified organic grapes were carefully hand-harvested with field selection, followed by manual sorting over two vibrating tables. Destemmed grapes were wild fermented in five micro-lots of ~750 kg each followed by 22 months of aging in French oak with the ultimate selection by Winemaker, Peter Gamble, including 15% new barriques.
This complex, terroir driven Pinot Noir opens with notes of sour cherry, red currant and ripe strawberry enhanced by the aromas of sweet tobacco and a hint of black tea. The mid-palate accentuates these flavours coupled with a bright acidity and well-integrated tannins that result in lingering finish.
