One of a series of terroir-specific chardonnays Thomas Bachelder released from 2021, this organic Lincoln Lakeshore chardy was planted in 2004 in the red clay, silt, and limestone of historic Grimsby Hillside Vineyard, in the far west of Niagara. Like all of his chardonnays, this was native fermented and rested 20 months, this time in a seasoned puncheon and neutral Burgundian barrels. Quite powerful, this is licked with flint and seasoned with light toast, with green apple, white peach, lemon thistle, anjou pear coursing through the structural, medium palate. Subtly powerful.
