Black Bank Hill, a tiny virtual producer for now, is possibly Niagara's best-kept secret. Refined Benchland reds with immense aging potential (often only found at Archives) have become the calling card for this two-man operation with bold plans to match.
100% Syrah from the Parke vineyard, aged eighteen months in neutral French oak barrels. A broad-shouldered and relatively tannic Syrah (for Niagara), exhibiting its tell-tale pepper on the nose and a savoury combination of dark fruit, plum, umami, and spice. Far from plush and soft, there is an ‘old world’ charm to this wine. We think this bottle will come to be seen as a benchmark for where Niagara Syrah is going.
This is ready to be slowly savoured now, but 5+ years in the cellar will reward the patient collector.
