A powerful and rich Viognier showing all the character of the 2020 vintage. The hot and long growing season has developed an expected high alcohol level, but this wine wears it properly and with distinction. An abundance of tropical notes on the nose like mango and pineapple with also white flowers and a hint of poached pear. The palate is suave, and creamy but not oily, which I greatly appreciate. The aromas reflect perfectly the flavours with the addition of a lengthy and spicy finish showcasing white pepper and Chinese five-spice.
To complement the flavour profile of this wine, a fantastic food pairing option would be a Swiss cheese fondue. The creamy and nutty flavour of the cheese harmonizes beautifully with the wine's profile.
