Fourth Wall 'Meta' Gamay Noir 2020

$3900

The third expression of Gamay Fourth Wall have bottled and the smallest batch yet with just 50 total cases.

80% Oppenlaender Vineyard (Four Mile Creek), 20% Wismer-Foxcroft (Twenty Mile Bench) - star vineyards from both ends of Niagara. Winemaking was by the esteemed Shiraz Mottiar of Mailvoire.

From proprietor-somelier Joel Wilcox: There is a brilliant energy that comes out of Virgil Gamay - iridescent strawberries, cherries, raspberries - that perfect melange that comes together year in and year out.

The Wismer-Foxcroft component implemented whole cluster and old barrique aging to add levity and aromatics. The Oppenlaender fruit was pristine and underwent destem with stainless fermentation/elevage.

These were the two core vineyard components used in the 2019 bottling and the same magic carries through here.

One may recognize the name Oppenlaender as the family behind Liebling Wines - an incredible team now making their own excellent wines.
